Carrara-art@Nuutajärvi

My second gallery in the Nuutajärvi Glass Village launched mid-June 2025. A large number of visitors with an interest in glass make the trip to Nuutajärvi, 1 hour 45 minutes north of Helsinki and 45 minutes south of Tampere especially in summer. Glass has been produced in Nuutajärvi for more than 230 years with the establishment of the first glass factory in Finland in 1793. Sadly the factory closed in 2014 but today is a major centre for studio glass with around 20 glass artists working in the non-profit Lasikompannia studio. I am its newest member and my new gallery if directly opposite the Lasikompannia hotshop.
I wish to showcase my diverse interests in glass and painting here with a subtle South African flavour but a style that fits the nordic aesthetic. Selected other artist work is also shown, nut the majority of the work is my own.
