The Manor is located just off the beautifully named Road of the Magic Night

My works include some open kiln cast buildings reminiscent of the sacristy in Urjalankylä, also on the Road of the Magic Night.  This beautiful stone building from 1520 contains a mural depicting the sacrifice of a 6 legged deer.  The largest sculpture has this image included as a graal panel introduced into the kiln casting, a technique I have developed and wish to explore further.

Also included is an installation of a labyrinth created with glass stones cast using recycled glass. Stone labyrinths such as these have been found on the coast of Finland Sweden Norway and northern Russia are thought to be between 300 and 800 ydars old, though the designs date back many thousands of years having been found on Mycenaen clay tablets and Roman coins.  The medieval fishermen thought these labyrinths conferred luck or the entrapment of bad spirits and winds, ensuring safe travel, good fishing harvests and fair weather.  In Saami culture there is a connection with burial practices and transitional rites.
