Glass draws man of Science from the large city to the countryside

This first article tells of my establishing a home gallery in Urjala in the former Jehovah's Witness Kindom Hall that started out as a school building in the 1930s.  I too have evolved from a scientist medical researcher that always loved glass as an art medium, to an artist working with this somewhat dangerous hot material that cools to something so beautiful.  The article also articulates the relative lack of appreciation, knowledge and history of glass in South Africa compared with Finland.  This, the Covid pandemic lockdowns, and daily electrical cuts made it near impossible to blow glass in South Africa.  This prompted my decision to move to Finland and study to be a glass artisan.  The cultural and vocational juxtapositions are important to my inspirations as an artist, and I hope to explore and stretch the limits of glass as a medium of artistic expression.
